What might cause double vision?
Most cases of double vision are caused when your eyes do not look at exactly the same point on an object. With each eye receiving a slightly different image, the brain is unable to create a single clear image resulting in double vision.
A variety of different conditions may cause double vision and these can range from a simple muscle imbalance to more serious and potentially life threatening conditions.
Who should I consult if I think I have double vision?
If you experience double vision, make an urgent visit to your eye care professional or GP or local hospital to rule out any serious medical conditions.
Can I continue to wear contact lenses if I suffer from double vision?
Once you have seen a medical practitioner to establish the cause of the double vision, they may recommend that you see your eye care professional or an ophthalmologist who will discuss your options and whether it is possible to continue to wear contact lenses.
Can contact lenses correct double vision?
Astigmatism (an irregular curvature of the cornea or lens within the eye) can cause ghosting which can otherwise sometimes be described as double vision. Your eye care professional can advise you if you have astigmatism.
