Common vision correction needs

It is important to have a regular eye examination to determine any changes in your eyes.

Myopia

Myopia is also called short sightedness or near sightedness. This is because people with myopia can see close objects more clearly than distant objects. With myopia distant objects appear blurry and people may feel the need to squint to see more clearly and possibly experience headaches due to eye strain.

ACUVUE® Contact Lenses offer a wide range of prescriptions enabling most people with myopia to be fitted successfully.

The 1•DAY ACUVUE® range of daily disposable lenses include 1•DAY ACUVUE® TruEye™ and 1•DAY ACUVUE® MOIST®.

The ACUVUE® reusable lenses include ACUVUE® OASYS® and ACUVUE® ADVANCE®.

Hyperopia

Hyperopia is also known as long sightedness, far sightedness or hypermetropia. People with hyperopia are able to see things better at a distance than objects close to them. If you are long sighted you may experience blurred vision, particularly whilst undertaking anything near to you including reading and working at a computer

Astigmatism

Astigmatism causes your vision to be blurry or distorted at all distances due to the cornea or lens within your eye being irregularly shaped. This causes difficulty when doing close up work such as reading and also when looking further into the distance such as when driving. The amount of astigmatism can vary and usually will be corrected with a different soft contact lens called a toric contact lens, when it becomes more than or equal to 0.75 units.

ACUVUE® lenses for astigmatism compensate for the individuals’ correction needs and incorporate a unique design called ASD which maintains the lens in the correct position so providing clear, stable vision during everyday activities. ACUVUE® Contact lenses that correct astigmatism include our daily disposable lens, 1•DAY ACUVUE® MOIST® for Astigmatism and our reusable lenses, ACUVUE® OASYS® for ASTIGMATISM and ACUVUE® ADVANCE® for ASTIGMATISM.

Presbyopia correction

Presbyopia is an age-related inability to focus sharply on close objects and develops gradually over time. If you are developing presbyopia you may first notice symptoms including a tendency to hold reading materials further away to make the object clearer, blurred vision at normal reading distance and eyestrain or headaches after doing close work such as reading a book, particularly in low light.

Presbyopia is normally corrected using bifocal or multifocal lenses. Correction allows people with presbyopia to see things clearly that are near as well as far away across variable lighting conditions.

ACUVUE® BIFOCAL is a reusable contact lens that is prescribed to correct presbyopia.
