Answers about the different types of contact lenses
What is a daily disposable lens?
It is a lens that you wear for one day, then simply discard and replace with a fresh, new pair the next day. No need for cleaning, disinfecting or storing.
What is a reusable lens?
It is a lens that you wear for more than one day, so rather than discarding them at the end of the day you clean and disinfect them, then store them in a contact lens case until you want to use them again. Some can be worn continuously for 7 days and 6 nights before replacing them such as ACUVUE® OASYS® Brand Contact Lenses with HYDRACLEAR® Plus. Always check with your eye care professional as to your suitability.
What are soft contact lenses?
Soft contact lenses are a medical device manufactured using synthetic materials called hydrogels. Hydrogels generally contain 35% to 75% of water. This is why soft contact lenses are called "hydrophilic" which means "water loving" and transmits oxygen to the cornea. The optic principle of soft contact lenses is the same as for glasses: they refract light and redirect it towards the retina to give you perfect eyesight. The latest soft lenses are made of materials called silicone hydrogels which share many of the properties of hydrogels but let even more oxygen through to the eyes.
What is a toric lens?
Toric lenses are soft contact lenses which are specifically designed to correct astigmatism. ACUVUE® toric lenses feature Accelerated Stabilisation Design technology (ASD) which uses the power of the natural blink to help keep your lens in the correct position and give you clear and stable vision.
What is a bifocal lens?
Bifocal lenses are designed to correct presbyopia, which is a common condition leading to problems seeing close objects and myopia and hypermetropia, problems seeing far objects.

What is Hydraclear Plus?
The HYDRACLEAR® Plus is the wetting technology that permanently embeds a higher volume of moisture-rich wetting agent, used in ACUVUE® OASYS® with HYDRACLEAR® Plus.
What is Lacreon™?
Lacreon™ is the name of the technology that locks in a moisture rich ingredient to prevent the lens from drying out throughout the day, this technology is used in 1•DAY ACUVUE® MOIST®.
What is ASD?
Accelerated Stabilisation Design technology (ASD) is developed for eyes with astigmatism and uses the blink of an eye to help keep contact lenses in the correct position. ASD is used in all ACUVUE contact lenses for astigmatism, including ACUVUE® OASYS® for ASTIGMATISM and ACUVUE® ADVANCE® for ASTIGMATISM.
