While you're thinking about contact lenses, think about your eyes. You use them for everything, from the second you wake up until the second you go to bed. You probably can’t imagine life without good vision. So before you get your new contact lenses – get an eye examination

40’s – 50’s: Your Eyes, Vision, and Contact Lenses.

Whether you’re just considering a switch to contact lenses or you’ve been wearing them for years, be aware that successful, healthy vision depends on three things:

Your Eyes
Are they healthy?

Your Vision
Is it as good as you want?

Your Contact Lenses
What’s the best method of vision correction for you?

Your Eyes
When you’re in your 40’s and 50’s, your eyes tend to tire more easily, may be prone to dryness, and may be more sensitive to contact lenses (and solutions) than they used to be. Most of these symptoms are simply a matter of age-related change. But to make sure your eyes are healthy, you need to get an eye examination every year.

Your Vision
Your vision may continue to change as you grow older. Even in your 40’s and 50’s, your prescription may evolve from year to year. But the biggest change you’ll face is presbyopia – the inability to focus properly on fine print or up-close work. If you’ve resigned yourself to wearing reading or bifocal glasses, you’ll be happy to know that advances in contact lens technology means you may not need them, after all.

** WARNING:Helps protect against transmission of harmful UV radiation to the cornea and into the eye. You should continue to use UV-absorbing eyewear as directed. NOTE: Long term exposure to UV radiation is one of the risk factors associated with cataracts. Exposure is based on a number of factors such as environmental conditions (altitude, geography, cloud cover) and personal factors (extent and nature of outdoor activities). UV-Blocking contact lenses help provide protection against harmful UV radiation. However, clinical studies have not been done to demonstrate that wearing UV-Blocking contact lenses reduces the risk of developing cataracts or other eye disorders. Consult your eye care practitioner for more information.

‡**UV-absorbing contact lenses are not substitutes for UV-blocking sunglasses as they do not completely cover the eye and surrounding area
